Profile:

Mr. Marchetti has been practicing engineering since 1986. Most of his experience has been as a Project Engineer and Project Manager. Prior to working in the consulting engineering field, Mr. Marchetti was employed as a project engineer for a large mechanical contracting firm in northeastern Pennsylvania where he was responsible for the design, and project management of numerous HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection projects. While employed for consulting engineers, Mr. Marchetti has been responsible for engineering and design of numerous HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, environmental control systems, and large steam plants and distribution systems for commercial, industrial, healthcare, and institutional clients. Mr. Marchetti is responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of the mechanical engineering discipline of the firm, which includes marketing, client contact, feasibility studies, design development, Construction Documents (drawings, specifications) preparation, and construction contract administration. 

Currently Larry is the Director of Mechanical Engineering at Smith Miller Associates. His responsibilities include overseeing, training and development of staff, project management, marketing, and quality control of all mechanical system designs. 

Education Bloomsburg University – Bloomsburg, PA                                             Renovations to Centennial Gymnasium - 

The project consisted of complete HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design and project management for a 100,000 sq. ft. building renovation and addition which transformed this historic building into a multi-purpose educational facility with auditoriums, classrooms, audio logy testing facilities, and offices. The mechanical systems generally consisted of HVAC rooftop units, hot water heating distribution system, steam heating distribution system, condenser water distribution system, DDC building management system, wet / dry pipe sprinkler system, fire standpipe system, and domestic hot / cold water distribution system.  


Education Bloomsburg University – Bloomsburg, PA 
                                               Renovations to Navy Hall

 The project consisted of complete HVAC design and project management for a 45,000 sq. ft. building HVAC renovation. The new mechanical systems generally consisted of a new 75-ton rotary screw air-cooled chiller, DDC building management system, chilled water distribution system, hot water distribution system, air handling units, and room terminal units.  


Education Bloomsburg University – Bloomsburg, PA                                                 Campus Steam Line Replacement Phase 1 and Phase 2

The project consisted of complete design and project management for the replacement of 300,000 ft. of high pressure steam and condensate lines from the Campus Boiler Plant to 22 buildings including dormitories, dining halls, performing art buildings, administration buildings, and classrooms. The new steam distribution system included a 1,000-foot long underground utility tunnel to house the steam mains as they were routed through the center of campus. The project was required to be constructed while the Campus was in operation with sequencing to limit disruption to normal operations.


Education Clarks Summit School District – Clarks Summit, PA 

The project consisted of the HVAC design to several elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the district, which underwent extensive renovations and additions. The Jr. / Sr. High School was renovated and provided with a 50,000 square foot addition which included a new cafeteria, classrooms, and industrial arts area. The HVAC systems designed included foodservice area HVAC, dust collection systems, vehicle exhaust ventilation systems, rooftop HVAC systems, central exhaust systems, hot water boilers, hot water heating distribution systems, building management control systems, and fuel oil distribution system.  


Education  Vassar College Alumnae House – Poughkeepsie, NY 

The project consisted of the complete replacement of the plumbing systems within this historic building, in addition to a new building sprinkler system and HVAC system. The project was challenging and unique since these renovations were necessary in a 30,000 square foot, 4-story 1920’s vintage structure and aesthetics was of primary importance. The mechanical systems designed for this building included a new domestic hot and cold water distribution system, new building fire protection system with electric fire pump, and central heating/cooling plant consisting of gas fire hot water boilers, air cooled chillers, hydronic pumps with variable frequency drives, air handling units, central exhaust system, kitchen exhaust system, room terminal fan coil units, and building management system.


Education Shippensburg State University – Shippensburg, PA                                                 New Gas Fired Boiler Project

The project consisted of the addition of a 500- boiler horsepower gas fired water tube boiler to the existing campus coal fired boiler plant, and the replacement of the existing boiler plant control system with a new microprocessor-based boiler plant control system and variable frequency drives on fans and coal feed conveyors. The mechanical systems installed included high pressure steam distribution systems, new gas-fired boiler with trim, condensate return system, high pressure gas distribution system, environmental controls on the boiler to comply with federal and state emission regulations, and new microprocessor based control system for the existing and new boilers.  


Education Susquehanna Jr./ Sr. High School - Towanda, PA.

 The project consisted of the complete replacement of the building room terminal HVAC units and the addition of a new 100-ton air-cooled chiller. The mechanical systems generally consisted of hot water heating distribution system, chilled water distribution system, replacement room terminal units, and new building management control system.


Education Bloomsburg University Fleet Fueling Facility - Bloomsburg, PA.

The project consisted of the construction of an underground fuel storage system, dispensers, fuel distribution piping, card reader access system, and fuel management / leak detection system.


Educational Benton Area High School - Benton, PA.

 The project consisted of the replacement of the existing school’s boiler plant. The mechanical design included replacement of existing steam boilers with (2) new dual fuel oil/gas fired steam boilers, controls, combustion air louver, steam and condensate piping, 10,000 gallon underground storage tank and fuel management system, and new boiler feedwater pump and controls.


Educational Dallas Area School District - Dallas, PA.

The project consisted of the development of Contract Documents for the removal / or closure of underground tanks at various schools within the district in accordance with PADEP and API guidelines and requirements.


Educational Evans Falls Elementary School – Evans Falls, PA.

The project consisted of the replacement of the existing school’s under ground storage tank with a new 20,000 gallon underground fuel oil storage tank. The mechanical design generally consisted of removal of existing underground tanks, new underground tank, fuel oil management system, and fuel oil distribution piping.


Educational Bloomsburg University Elwell Hall Computer Wiring - Bloomsburg, PA.

 The project consisted of new Catagory 3 voice and new Catagory 6 data wiring to be routed to all student rooms within this 8 story, 300 student dormitory. The campus fiber optic wiring was connected to a main distribution panel in the basement, and then routed to new LAN closets at each wing on each floor. The wiring then was routed from the LAN closets to each student dorm room data and telephone outlet. The project also included testing of the copper and fiber in accordance with EIA/TIA guidelines.


Educational Bloomsburg University Alumni House - Bloomsburg, PA.

The project consisted of the construction of a 5,000 square foot addition to an existing 3 story historical structure currently used as the Alumni House. The addition generally consisted of a large multi-purpose space used for meeting and special functions, office space, and an area designated for foodservice functions. The mechanical design included all HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for the addition as well as the existing building.


Educational Bloomsburg University Magee House Renovation - Bloomsburg, PA.

 The project consisted of the renovation of the existing space into a fully functional multi-purpose room capable of being utilized as a computer learning lab. The mechanical design included new heating, cooling and ventilation design for the space as well as a new control system.


Educational Bloomsburg University Boiler Plant Asbestos Removal - Bloomsburg, PA.

The project consisted of the development of Contract Documents for the removal of existing asbestos containing materials (ACM) within the boiler plant and the re-insulation of piping and equipment. The project required detailed sequencing and scheduling requirements to minimize disruption to the normal operations of the boiler plant.


Educational Bloomsburg University Boiler Plant Breeching Replacement- Bloomsburg, PA.

The project consisted of the development of Contract Documents for the removal of existing exterior rectangular breeching which connected into an existing brick discharge stack, and replacement. The mechanical design included the new rectangular breeching, expansion compensation provisions, and external insulation.


Educational Pocono Mountain School District - Swiftwater, PA.

 The first phase of the project consisted of the HVAC, and plumbing renovation of an existing warehouse potion of the facility into student classrooms, and a computer server room. The first phase generally consisted of new 4-pipe classroom unit ventilators connected into the existing building hydronic system; new computer room HVAC unit, and plumbing modifications to the spaces. The second phase consisted of the construction of a new district wide warehouse / storage facility with the associated HVAC and plumbing design.


Educational Bloomsburg University Campus Bookstore - Bloomsburg, PA.

The project consisted of the renovation of an existing 10,000 square foot building to be modernized for the Campus Bookstore. The project generally consisted of a new heating and cooling plant for the building as well as plumbing upgrades. The new cooling plant consisted of a new 100-ton double-effect steam absorption unit, high and low pressure steam and condensate distribution, condenser water system, new hydronic piping system, new 100-ton induced draft cooling tower, new air distribution system, humidification system, and controls.



Educational College Misericordia McHale Hall Renovation - Dallas, PA.

The project consisted of the renovation of the existing first floor west wing into a 5800 square foot portion of building to accommodate 14 new student rooms along with central shower room, laundry room, and common kitchen. The project generally consisted of new (4) pipe fan coils, hydronic piping, corridor ventilation from the existing air handling unit, exhaust ventilation, heating for existing stairwells, replacement of existing chilled water and hot water hydronic pumps, and neew DDC control system for the renovated areas.


Financial First Liberty Bank – Clarks Summit, PA 

Project consisted of HVAC and plumbing design for 4,000 square foot retail space with teller, conference room, and office, and public areas.


Financial NatWest Banks – Philadelphia, PA 

The project generally consisted numerous tenant fit-outs and HVAC design for a number of NatWest branches in the Philadelphia area.


Government Tobyhanna Army Depot- Tobyhanna, PA                                                 Sandblast Shop Industrial Ventilation System

The project generally consisted of designing a new industrial ventilation system to capture lead contaminated paint at various sandblast workstations, and convey this exhaust to a high-efficiency duct collector 600-ft. away. The project mechanical systems generally consisted of a new high-velocity industrial duct distribution system, dust collector, industrial exhaust fans, and controls. 


Government Tobyhanna Army Depot- Tobyhanna, PA                                                 Boiler Plant Coal Ash Recovery Equipment System

The project generally consisted of replacement of existing coal ash equipment at the boiler plant and associated controls.


Government PennDOT- Various Locations throughout Pennsylvania

The projects generally consisted of the removal of existing underground fuel tanks at various maintenance buildings throughout the state and replacement with new tanks, fuel dispensers, fuel distribution piping, and controls. Work with regard to the removal of the tanks was required to be in conformance with state and federal requirements for hazardous materials.


Government PennDOT Truck Maintenance Facility- Danville, PA

The project generally consisted of a new 15,000 square foot truck maintenance facility. The facility required specialized plumbing and HVAC systems such as vehicle lubricant distribution systems, waste oil recovery systems, truck wash with wash water reclaim system, compressed air, oil water separators, and emergency exhaust systems, in addition to a conventional HVAC system for the office area.

                           

Government   Eagle Hose Company Fire Station - Pittston, PA

The project generally consisted of HVAC, and plumbing design for a new addition to an existing historic fire station. The new addition housed a new vehicle truck bay and offices / firefighter living quarters on the second story. The mechanical design included a new vehicle exhaust system, garage ventilation system, and HVAC system for the living quarters. The plumbing design included new natural gas distribution system, domestic water, sanitary, breathing air tank filling station, and oil interceptor for the truck bay drainage system.


Government Fort Indiantown Gap Army Base Fuel Distribution - Annville, PA

The project generally consisted of removal and replacement of (2) existing 20,000 gallon fuel tanks and fuel distribution system with new tanks, piping, fuel distribution system, cathodic protection system, and fuel management / leak detection system.


Government Fort Indiantown Gap Army Base Water Tank - Annville, PA

The project generally consisted of a the removal of lead based paint from the elevated 150,000 gallon tank exterior and re-painting of the tank exterior and new tank interior coating. Additionally, the tank was provided with FAA compliant obstruction marking and lighting with a new impressed current cathodic protection system.


Government Pike County District Court House - Annville, PA

The project generally consisted of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for an 8,000 square foot district justice / courthouse.


Government Job Corps Dormitories, Delaware Valley - Callicoon, NY

The project generally consisted of the construction of (2) new 30,000 square foot, 3-story dormitories. The mechanical systems required for this project included fuel oil distribution system, oil fired boilers, central building exhaust, central air handling systems, domestic hot and cold water system, sanitary and storm system, individual room terminal units, automatic temperature controls, and building fire protection system.


Government Job Corps Dormitories-Red Rock, - Lopez, PA

The project generally consisted of the construction of (2) new 30,000 square foot, 3-story dormitories. The plumbing and fire protection design for this facility included LPG distribution system; domestic hot water heaters and storage tank system, sanitary and vent systems; sprinkler protection throughout conforming to NFPA-13 and 13R requirements, and class I standpipe system.


Government Plymouth Borough Municipal Building, - Plymouth, PA

The project generally consists of replacement of the building heating plant with a new gas-fired hot water boiler; replacement of a lower lever split system air handling unit; replacement of existing room PTAC units with hot water coils, and new HVAC controls.


Health Care Children’s Hospital – New Brunswick, NJ. 

Project involvement was up to the 30% design document stage. During this stage all building plumbing, fire protection systems were defined and major equipment sized. The project incorporated a water booster system, central domestic cold and hot water system, sanitary and storm water drainage, medical gas system, pool heating / drainage system, interior sprinkler system, standpipes, fire pump, and exterior exposure sprinkler system.  


Health Care Saint Barnabas Medical Center Replacement of Operating Suite Air Handling Unit Air – Livingston, NJ 

The project generally consisted of the replacement of a large volume, single fan, dual duct, large capacity air-handling unit with a new dual fan- dual duct air-handling unit, which served several operating room suites and support spaces on the ground floor. The new air handling system was designed to be installed in parallel with the existing unit in order to minimize disruption to the hospital’s operating rooms. The project design included steam, chilled water piping and building automation controls.


Health Care Saint Barnabas Medical Center – Livingston, NJ, Replacement of Multiple Air Handling Units 

The project generally consisted of the replacement of (4) single fan, dual duct large capacity air handling unit with new, large volume, dual fan- dual duct air handling unit which served numerous major clinical areas of the hospital including hematology laboratories and various and support spaces. These new air handling units were installed in parallel with the existing units in order to minimize disruption to the hospital’s laboratories. The project design included steam, chilled water piping and building automation controls.


Health Care Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery - Shavertown, PA 

The project generally consisted of HVAC, and plumbing, and medical gas design for a new 3,000 square foot, single story addition to an existing plastic surgery medical office/practice. The new addition was designed to conform to PA Department of Health and AIA Healthcare Facility requirements for a Class C Ambulatory Surgery Center. 


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic – Allentown, PA 

Renovation to 5,000 sq. ft. facility included design of an infectious isolation unit for the treatment of TB patients. The design included a constant volume supply air unit with high efficiency filtration and exhaust with a HEPA bag-in / bag-out filtration system, and room pressurization controls to meet Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. 


Health Care Prime Rehab Multi-Practice Outpatient Medical Facility- Scranton, PA

Renovation to an existing 50,000 square foot warehouse to accommodate a multi-practice oncology / physical therapy group with full outpatient diagnostic and treatment capability including a building addition for a radiation shielded concrete enclosure to house a linear accelerator unit and (PET/CT) scan departments. 


Health Care West Hudson Hospital– Kearney, NJ

HVAC upgrades to an existing radiology department air handling system to accommodate increased cooling requirements from medical equipment, and meeting airflow requirements per current State of NJ and AIA Hospital Guideline Requirements.


Health Care West Hudson Hospital – Kearney, NJ

New HVAC air handling and distribution system including medical gas / plumbing renovations for Emergency Room Renovation and several Triage and support spaces. The design also addressed meeting airflow requirements for the ER waiting area in accordance with State AIA Hospital Guidelines. 


Health Care Pottsville Hospital, 4th Floor B / C Renovations – Pottsville, PA

Project included plumbing renovation, new floor sprinkler system medical gas renovation, existing HVAC modifications and a new HEPA exhaust system with bag-in/bag-out filters, and associated pressurization controls.


Health Care Pottsville Hospital Sprinkler Renovations – Pottsville, PA

Project included extending the existing fire sprinkler and standpipe infrastructure to meet facility’s 5-year plan to provide extend fire protection systems throughout the entire facility.


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs, Congregate Bath Renovations – Wilkes Barre, PA

The project consisted of extensive plumbing renovations and new fixtures for congregate baths on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th floor of the facility. The project required connection and reconfiguration of the existing facility domestic water, and sanitary systems to accommodate the new fixtures.


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs Audiology Department Relocation – Wilkes-Barre, PA

The project consisted of extensive plumbing and HVAC renovations to an existing area of the hospital, which was being renovated to accommodate the relocation and enlargement of the facility audiology department. The HVAC design incorporated acoustical treatment to the HVAC to provide low ambient sound levels for the space and audiometric testing booths.


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs Wilkes-Barre, PA, 6th Floor West FMS Relocation

The project generally consists of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection renovations to the 10,000 square foot 6th floor west wing of the facility to support new engineering functions for the facility as well as general offices, restrooms, and conference room space. 


Health Care Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA –7th Floor Main Building Renovations    

The project consisted of the HVAC design of HVAC to the 7th floor west wing of the facility to support a change in usage from acute care to general office and conference room space as well as infusion services for outpatients.


Health Care VA Medical Center Wilkes-Barre, PA, Facility HVAC Study

Phase I was a comprehensive, detailed engineering study of the medical facilities plumbing infrastructure including the domestic water, and steam distribution system. The study identified areas of the infrastructure that need improvement, presented recommendations, and provided a prioritized list of work items to be used for the facility’s 5-year capital expenditure program. 


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs Wilkes-Barre, PA, Facility Plumbing Systems Study, Phase I

Phase I was a comprehensive, detailed engineering study of the medical facilities plumbing infrastructure including the domestic water, and steam distribution system. The study identified areas of the infrastructure that need improvement, presented recommendations, and provided a prioritized list of work items. 


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs, Wilkes-Barre, PA, Plumbing Upgrades Phase II

Phase II of the project involved the development of bidding Contract Documents for the work identified in Phase I. Generally, Phase II consisted of main steam heating system control valves, steam pressure reducing stations, and new DDC controls for the heating system steam valves.


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs, Wilkes-Barre, PA, Plumbing Upgrades Phase III

Phase III of the project involved the development of bidding Contract Documents for the work identified in Phase I. Generally, Phase III replacement of existing semi-instantaneous steam water heaters, and domestic water pressure booster pump system at the CLC facility on the Hospital Campus.


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs - Wilkes-Barre, PA Chiller Energy Conservation

Project consisted of HVAC design modifications to an existing 750-ton chilled water plant to incorporate a plate-and-frame heat exchanger which permitted the use of the existing cooling towers to provide water for cooling thus reducing the total operational hours and energy consumption of the existing chiller plant.


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs - Wilkes-Barre, PA Renovate 4 North for SPD

Project consisted of complete HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design for the renovation of a 6,000 sq. ft. area of the facility to permit relocation of the Supply, Processing, Distribution (SPD) department. The SPD department was configured to maintain airflow with air from less sterile areas at a negative pressure, and sterile areas at a positive pressure. The project included building automation controls, and conformance to hospital ICRA requirements and VA standards.


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs – 8 West Sleep Lab, Wilkes-Barre, PA

Project consisted of complete HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design for the renovation of the 9,000 sq. ft. 8th floor, west wing of the facility to permit relocation of the Audiology department, and to develop a sleep lab area which permits clinical monitoring of patients with sleep disorders. The project also required plumbing design to accommodate bariatric patients. The project included building automation controls, and conformance to hospital ICRA requirements and VA standards.


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs – CLC (Community Living Center) Air Handler Renovations, Wilkes-Barre, PA

Project consisted of complete HVAC design for the replacement of existing air handling units serving the 4-story, 200,000 sq. ft. facility. The existing system utilized a “runaround loop” energy recovery system to condition large quantities of outside air admitted into the building. However, this system did not work properly and relied on constant volume fans which consumed excessive energy to operate. The new system utilized dessicant energy wheels along with variable frequency drives as an efficient means of energy recovery, and drastically reduced energy consumption. The project included building automation controls, and conformance to hospital ICRA requirements and VA standards.


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs – Compensation and Pension Department Renovation, Wilkes-Barre, PA

Project consisted of complete HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design for the renovation of the 6,000 sq. ft. 1st floor, north area of the facility into patient exam rooms and renovation of the main lobby. The project included building automation controls, and conformance to hospital ICRA requirements and VA standards.


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs – Warehouse Renovation, Wilkes-Barre, PA

Project consisted of complete HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design for the renovation of the 12,000 sq. ft. basement level, unconditioned storage area, into a fully conditioned, automated warehouse. The project included the addition of a 200-ft underground utility tunnel which permitted the flow of supplied and materials through the use of robotic material handling equipment. The project included building automation controls, and conformance to hospital ICRA requirements and VA standards.


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs – Plumbing Infrastructure Renovations- Phase 1, Wilkes-Barre, PA

The Phase I Project, in response to patient fatalities from Legionella at the Pittsburgh VAMC, consisted of a complete renovation to the facility domestic water system. Phase I of the project generally consisted of a new cold and hot domestic water piping system from the basement level through the 13th floor. The project was designed around circulating high temperature domestic water and providing mixing valve stations near the points of use on each floor. The project included building automation controls, and conformance to hospital ICRA requirements and VA standards.


Health Care VA Medical Center – Plumbing Infrastructure Renovations- Phase 2, Wilkes-Barre, PA

The Phase II Project, a direct continuation of Phase I, generally consisted of extending new cold and hot domestic water piping system from where the Phase I project left off, to new plumbing fixtures on each floor. Additionally, the project included chlorine dioxide disinfection for the facility’s (4) water services, new day tank level controls, and a new domestic hot and cold water service for the north wing of the facility. The project included building automation controls, and conformance to hospital ICRA requirements and VA standards.


Health Care Moss Rehab Boiler Replacement – Elkins Park, PA

Project consisted of complete replacement of the existing facility boiler plant infrastructure including new dual fuel boiler, water treatment system, feedwater equipment, fuel oil storage and distribution system, and architectural modifications.  


Health Care Moss Rehab and Einstein Hospital – Elkins Park, PA 

Project consisted of replacement of the facilities obsolete existing boiler plant. The replacement generally consisted of (2) new 400 horsepower low NOx scotch marine firetube boilers; new boiler feedwater pumps and receivers; new boiler chemical feed system including water softening and dealkalyzing treatment; new fuel oil storage and distribution system; new natural gas distribution system; boiler stacks and auxiliary equipment; new boiler controls; and replacement of the existing boiler plant roof. 

 

Health Care Albert Einstein Medical Center – Philadelphia, PA Domestic Booster Pump Replacement

Project consisted of replacement of the facilities triplex water booster pump system with a new triplex VFD controlled water booster system consisting of (3) 25-hp pumps and controls in addition to a new inline filter to remove sediment.


 Health Care Albert Einstein Medical Center – Philadelphia, PA Angiography Department Renovation

Project consisted of phased HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design to accommodate the renovation of a 2800 sq. ft. Angiography procedure suite which included patient staging areas, procedure rooms with imaging equipment, and Nurse’s station.


Health Care Albert Einstein Medical Center – Philadelphia, PA Radiation Oncology Department Renovation

Project consisted of phased HVAC and Plumbing design to accommodate the renovation of a 14,000 sq. ft. Radiation Oncology department including new HVAC units, ductwork, and controls. 


Health Care Albert Einstein Medical Center – Philadelphia, PA Stair Tower Smoke Control Study

The study commissioned by the Hospital, consisted of a detailed study with associated costs to construct a stairwell pressurization system including fans, power, and controls in compliance with IBC, NFPA 92A, and standard fire protection engineering practice requirements.

Project consists of on going renovations to the existing domestic hot water plants serving several buildings. The renovations generally consist of removal of existing storage hot water steam generators and replacement with new semi-instantaneous steam hot water generators and controls.

Project consists of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Medical Gas fit-out of an existing shell space to accommodate a new Heart Catherization Lab and associated diagnostic equipment.


Health Care Albert Einstein Medical Center – Philadelphia, PA Renovation of Existing Employee Cafeteria and Serving Areas

Project consists of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and foodservice equipment fit-out of an 10,000 sq. ft. existing cafeteria to accommodate a reconfigured cafeteria serving area with various themed food serving areas. The design included ventilation design for several kitchen ventilation hoods and a gas-fired make up air system to control pressurization in the cafeteria area to prevent odors from migrating into the Hospital.


Health Care Bristol Myers- Squibb Children’s Hospital – New Brunswick, NJ. 

Project involvement was up to the 30% design document stage. During this stage all building plumbing, fire protection systems were defined and major equipment sized. The project incorporated a water booster system, central domestic cold and hot water system, sanitary and storm water drainage, medical gas system, pool heating / drainage system, interior sprinkler system, standpipes, fire pump, and exterior exposure sprinkler system.  


Health Care Chester Crozer Medical Center – Upland, PA Renovations for New Observation Nurse Servers/ Nurse Station (Burn Treatment Center)

Project consists of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Medical Gas renovations to the existing Burn Treatment Center at Crozer, which included renovation of existing spaces into (2) Patient Intensive Care Burn Units and a Burn Patient Physical Therapy Gym.


Health Care Albert Einstein Health Network – Einstein Center One Outpatient Facility, Philadelphia, PA 

Project consists of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection and renovations to the existing facility at Center One outpatient facility in south Philadelphia, which includes renovation of an existing shell space and Urology department into a new 10,000 square foot outpatient Oncology Treatment Center. The Pharmacy area required an HVAC system which supported USP 797 compliance for the Pharmacy and Clean Room areas.


Health Care Roxborough Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, Wound Care Center Renovations

The project generally consisted of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection renovations to an existing 1500 sq. ft. area of the facility to be used as a wound care suite with Hyperbaric Chambers and patient holding areas. The project included a new HVAC air handling unit, distribution ductwork, and controls to meet current PA DOH and AIA healthcare facility design guidelines.


Health Care Roxborough Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, Various Renovations 

The project generally consisted of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection renovations to an existing 1500 sq. ft. portion of the facility being re-configured The project included a new HVAC unit to meet current DOH and AIA guidelines.


Health Care Taylor Hospital (Crozer Keystone Health System), Ridley Park, PA, New ICU Engineering Study

The project generally consists of a comprehensive evaluation of the existing hospital plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and fire protection infrastructure and the ability to support the renovation of an existing portion of the facility or an option of adding on the facility a new ICU unit. The study was performed in sufficient detail to permit General Contractors to provide a GMP (guaranteed maximum price) for both options to the Hospital  


Health Care Taylor Hospital (Crozer Keystone Health System), Ridley Park, PA, New ICU

The project generally consists of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection for a new 12,000 sq. ft. addition to the facility to accommodate a new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) which was to be built over an existing emergency room department. The project required new air handling and exhaust systems to provide suitable airflow to the spaces to meet the requirements of the PA DOH and AIA Healthcare Facility Guidelines.


Health Care Mercy Suburban Hospital, Norristown, PA, Renovations to Endoscopy Suite

The project generally consisted of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design to support renovations to renovate an existing area of the hospital into a 6,000 sq. ft. Endoscopy suite. The project included medical gas design, ventilation system design, plumbing, and fire protection.


Health Care Mercy Suburban Hospital, Norristown, PA, Renovations to 4th Floor Medical Surgical Patient Rooms

The project generally consisted of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection renovations of a current Pediatric Nursing Unit into a Joint Replacement patient unit. 


Health Care Department of Veterans Affairs Wilkes-Barre, PA, Facility HVAC Improvements

The project generally consisted of a 3.5 million dollar HVAC capital improvements project to the hospital including air handler replacement, exhaust fan replacement, new HVAC Controls, new HVAC to several patient and administrative wings, and new USP 797 compliant HVAC systems for Central Pharmacy area.


Health Care Albert Einstein Health Network – Levy Air Handling Replacement, Philadelphia, PA

Project consisted of HVAC, and HVAC Controls to replace (4) existing outdated air handling units in the basement mechanical room of the Levy Building which serve various portions of the facility. The project also includes the installation of an additional 75-hp in-line chilled water pump.


Health Care Albert Einstein Health Network – MRI Suite, Philadelphia, PA

The project consisted of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection renovations to support architectural renovations and the installation of a 3 Tesla MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) unit. The project included an emergency helium purge system and associated monitors, as well as a closed circuit process cooler for the magnet an emergency city water coolant back-up system and separate HVAC cooling system for the electronics. 


Health Care Albert Einstein Health Network – Linear Accelerator, Philadelphia, PA 

The project consisted of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection renovations to support architectural renovations and the installation of a Linac (Linear Accelerator) unit used in the treatment of cancer tumors. The project included a closed circuit process cooler for the Linac unit an emergency city water coolant back-up system, FM-200 clean agent fire suppression system, and a lead-lined ductwork maze to absorb and limit neutron scattering. 


Health Care Endless Mountains Healthcare Network – Montrose, PA Facility Renovations for Orthopedic Operating Room

Project consisted of HVAC and Plumbing design for renovations to an existing orthopedic surgery operating room. The project generally consisted of a new HVAC system with proper filtration and controls to meet current DOH and AIA guidelines. 


Health Care Hollidaysburg Veterans Home – Hollidaysburg, PA Eisenhower Hall Plumbing Renovations

Project consisted of Plumbing design for replacement of entire facility existing domestic cold water, hot water, and sanitary system to an existing 110,000 sq.ft. care facility. The project was the result of MIC (microbiologically induced corrosion) which plagued the facility with premature failure and necessitated complete infrastructure replacement with piping materials not susceptible to MIC. 


Health Care Albert Einstein Medical Center – Central Utility Plant (CUP) Chiller Addition, Philadelphia, PA 

Project consists of addition of 1200-ton centrifugal, water-cooled, variable drive chiller, new 1500-gpm condenser water pump, variable frequency drives, cooling tower renovations, and new HVAC Controls to support the renovations to the campus chilled water plant. The project also included substantial renovations to the electrical infrastructure to support the new chiller and auxiliary equipment.  


Health Care Albert Einstein Medical Center – Lifter-Moss Chilled Water Bridge, Philadelphia, PA

Project consisted of the extension of 8-inch underground piping between the Lifter and Moss buildings on the hospital campus. The purpose was to permit the Moss Building to be served from the campus chilled water system during the shoulder seasons (fall and spring) which would alleviate operational problems with the existing steam absorption chiller operating at light loads. The project included the addition of 75-hp and 50-hp chilled water pumps, variable frequency drives, pre-insulated underground piping, heat tracing, and building management controls.   

                                       

Health Care Albert Einstein Medical Center – Tower Building Chilled Water Modifications, Philadelphia, PA (2013)

Project consisted of extensive piping modifications and reconfiguration in the Tower Building to permit an existing steam absorption chiller, and associated pumps to be removed from the main mechanical room, and the building to be served solely off the central utility plant chilled water system.  


Health Care Catskill Regional Medical Center – New Emergency Department Addition, Harris, NY

Project consisted of complete HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design for a 12,000 sq. ft. addition to the existing hospital. The new ER Addition was designed as a self-sustaining segment of the facility with a separate domestic water system, HVAC system, with all mechanical systems seismically designed. The project included (3) infection isolation rooms with anterooms that required specialized ventilation systems utilizing HEPA filtration and intricate pressurization controls to maintain the spaces at a negative pressure relative to the remainder of the facility. The HVAC system utilized redundant cooling sources for reliability, and included a full interface into the facility building automation system.   


Health Care VA Medical Center – Plumbing Upgrade Phase I, Wilkes-Barre, PA

Project consisted of 2.5-million-dollar project to upgrade the aging domestic water infrastructure at the 13-story medical facility. The project generally consisted of developing an overall concept for replacing the domestic water, hot water, and hot water return distribution systems at the facility, and to develop Legionella mitigation measures, and included a new water distribution riser system, master mixing valve stations, and domestic water booster package.


Health Care VA Medical Center – Plumbing Upgrade Phase II, Wilkes-Barre, PA

Project consisted of implementing the concepts developed in the first phase and to incorporate newly developed VA Legionella mitigation procedures into the design. The project included a new water service (hot water and cold) for the North Wing clinical portion of the facility, new house pumps, day tank level controls, steam-water generator, steam condensate transfer pump, master mixing valve stations, and DDC system to allow water system telemetry back to the BAS.


Health Care VA Medical Center – Cross Connection Study, Fayetteville, AK

Project consisted of complete and detailed study of the facilities (37) buildings for actual and potential cross-connect which could impact the water quality and safety to the facility patients and staff. The study required a detailed building-by-building assessment of existing and potential cross connection hazards, existing backflow prevention, and recommendations with costs to mitigate these hazards.


Health Care VA Outpatient Clinic – Daytona, Fla. 

The project consisted of plumbing and HVAC renovations to a building addition to the existing facility. The facility HVAC systems incorporated energy recovery units for humidity control, VAV terminals with reheat, and central exhaust. 


Health Care VA Hospital Canteen Renovations – Wilkes Barre, PA

The project consisted of extensive plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC renovations to the employee cafeteria area including the food service areas.


Assisted Care / Elderly Widows’ Home - Sevierville, TN

The project generally consisted of the construction of a new 50,000 square foot, 4 story, assisted-living facility for retired nuns with individual living residences, public spaces, chapel, and dining area. The mechanical systems designed for this project included domestic hot and cold water systems, sanitary and storm systems, natural gas distribution system, building sprinkler system, standpipe system, individual room HVAC units, centralized air handling units for the corridors and public spaces, foodservice area ventilation system, and main building exhaust system.


Assisted Care / Elderly IHM Convent - Scranton, PA

The project generally consisted of the construction of a new 140,000 square foot, 4 story, assisted-living facility for retired nuns with individual living residences, public spaces, chapel, and dining area. The mechanical systems designed for this project included natural gas, domestic hot and cold water systems, sanitary and storm systems, natural gas distribution system, individual room HVAC units, centralized air handling units for the corridors and public spaces, centralized chilled water and heating plant, heat recovery equipment, foodservice area ventilation system, and main building exhaust system.


Assisted Care / Elderly Lackawanna Housing Authority Dunmore Complex - Dunmore, PA

The project generally consisted of the renovation of an existing 50-unit, 6 story, assisted living facility with individual living residences, public spaces, laundry and administration spaces. The mechanical systems designed for this project included a new domestic hot water heating and storage plant, natural gas distribution system, new apartment shower controls, individual room PTAC HVAC units with hot-water coils, centralized 100% outside air handling unit for the corridors, and replacement of individual apartment range hood and bathroom exhaust systems.


Industrial Cornell Iron Works World Headquarters and Manufacturing – Mountaintop, PA

The project consisted of the construction of a 225,000 square foot manufacturing facility and 30,000 square foot office / administrative building. The mechanical design included process HVAC systems for the manufacturing powder coating process, industrial ventilation systems, high pressure gas distribution, compressed air distribution system, fire protection system, general plant ventilation system, overhead low-intensity gas radiant heating system, domestic hot and cold water systems, sanitary and storm systems, hot water heating system, and rooftop VAV system with perimeter hot water heat for the office complex.


Industrial Schering Plough Research Institute – Lafayette, NJ

The project consisted of replacing the existing underground low-pressure steam and process piping system with a new piping system installed in an elevated pipe rack support system to convey piping between the central existing 200 hp duel fuel fire tube boiler plant and the research buildings. 


Industrial Ambler Borough WWTP – Ambler, PA

The project consisted of a process ventilation system used to inject air into the trickling filter bed to enhance the treatment process of the effluent.


Industrial Mission Foods New Manufacturing Facility – Mountain Top, PA

The project consisted of the fit out of a 142,000 square foot building with production, packaging, cold storage, maintenance, and office / administrative areas. The mechanical design included process HVAC systems for the food processing areas, industrial ventilation systems, medium pressure gas distribution, compressed air distribution system, general plant ventilation system, domestic hot and cold water systems, sanitary and storm systems, industrial wastewater system including oil separation and wastewater monitoring, hot water heating system, and HVAC system for the Office / Administrative areas.


Industrial Specialty Records (WEA) – Olyphant, PA

The project consisted of the HVAC design for a class 100,000 clean room which was utilized for the production of laser disk recordings. The project included connection into the facility chilled water system, new air handling unit, reheat coil control, room pressurization controls, laminar flow air distribution, and commissioning in accordance with federal guidelines for clean room design.


Institutional Clarks Summit State Hospital Renovations – Clarks Summit, PA 

The project generally consisted of the renovations to various portions of the existing patient wings which required numerous HVAC and plumbing renovations. Generally, the mechanical design included the extension of existing 4-pipe hydronic piping to new individual space fan coil units and air handling units, new exhaust system, new automatic temperature controls, and plumbing fixture additions based on new architectural plans.


Institutional Wernerville State Hospital Boiler Plant Renovation – Wernersville, PA 

The project generally consisted of the renovations to various components of the boiler plant. Generally the mechanical scope of work included replacement boiler feedwater pumps, new plant compressed air system, new boiler plant control system including new equipment actuators and variable speed drives on draft inducer fans and combustion air fans, and air conditioning for the boiler plant engineering office.


Institutional Wilkes-Barre Police Station HVAC Upgrades – Wilkes-Barre, PA 

The project generally consisted of replacement of the existing building pneumatically controlled automatic temperature controls with new DDC control system. The project also included the replacement of an existing shooting range heating and ventilation system with a new ventilation system that utilized HEPA filtration in recirculated air and exhaust air in order to meet OSHA and NIOSH requirements for airborne lead concentration.


Parking Structure Cayuga Parking Garage Structure– Ithaca, NY

The project consisted of the construction of a new 8-story parking structure with provisions for retail / commercial tenant space on the ground level. The design included plumbing design for sanitary, storm drainage, gas, domestic water, and fire protection. HVAC was provided for the ground floor tenant spaces and 8th-floor elevator machine room.


Penal Facility State Correctional Institution – Waymart, PA 

The project generally consisted of the construction of (2) 3-story inmate shower toilet rooms onto existing buildings, construction of a new Level 7 Control Room, and renovation of a 30,000 square foot structure outside the perimeter security fence for civilian employees at the facility. The mechanical systems included high pressure steam distribution, 75-ton air cooled chiller, steam to hot water heat exchangers, central air handling units, sprinkler systems, standpipes, complete plumbing systems, and a gaseous fire suppression system for the protection of the control room. All work was in compliance with ACA and facility guidelines.


Penal Facility Lackawanna County Prison – Scranton, PA 

The project generally consisted of the renovations to the foodservice ventilation systems which included a new kitchen hood, hood fire suppression system, exhaust fan, ductwork, and gas-fired make-up air unit. The ventilation system was designed to conform to NFPA-96 requirements


Recreation Pike County Senior Citizen Center – Lords Valley, PA 

HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for a 12,000 square foot senior center and offices. Included was design for foodservice area of the facility.


Recreation Telespond Senior Services – Scranton, PA 

The project generally consisted of replacement of the existing building off-peak electrical thermal storage system with a new LPG gas-fired boiler plant, pump, and controls. 


Recreation Borgota Casino and Hotel Data Center UPS Room – Atlantic City, NJ 

The project generally consisted of the design of a new cooling system to provide process cooling for new data center UPS equipment to be installed to support the facility data equipment. The mechanical design generally consisted of a new cooling system, and controls connected into the existing building hydronic and building automation systems respectively.


Recreation Wilkes-Barre YMCA Aquatic Center – Wilkes-Barre, PA

The project generally consisted of the design of a new 50,000 square foot aquatic center which showcased a new 7-lane competition pool. The mechanical design included a new pool filtration and chlorination system, pool heater system, pool packaged air handling unit that included ventilation, cooling, exhaust, and dehumidification functions, pool dehumidification/ water heat recovery loop, pool area distribution, domestic water heating system, building sanitary system including pool filter backwash drainage system, rooftop HVAC systems for common public spaces, ventilation system for locker rooms, toilet rooms and pool equipment rooms; sanitary and roof drainage system, gas distribution system, plumbing fixtures, and building control system.  


Retail K Mart – Hazleton, PA 

Project consisted of fire protection design for new sprinkler system to protect 150,000 square foot retail space with restaurants, and storage areas. The systems were designed in accordance with Factory Mutual requirements.


Retail   Little Caesars Pizza – Edwardsville, PA 

Project consisted of HVAC and plumbing fit-out design for a 3,000 square foot retail space with food preparation, and storage areas. 


Retail First Liberty Bank – Clarks Summit, PA 

Project consisted of HVAC and plumbing design for 4,000 square foot retail space with teller, conference room, and office, and public areas.


Retail Plains Plaza Strip Mall – Plains, PA 

Project consisted of sprinkler, HVAC, and plumbing design for new strip mall to accommodate future tenant fit out.


Retail Priceless Kids – Scranton, PA 

Project consisted of “ Plain Vanilla Box” HVAC and gas piping design for 7,500 square foot Tenant space.


Retail Victoria Inns and Convention Center – Plains, PA

The project consisted of the construction of a new 42,000 square foot restaurant and convention center. The mechanical design included new HVAC, foodservice area ventilation area, central vacuum system, plumbing system, and fire protection system


Warehouse Aventis-Pasteur – Swiftwater, PA 

Sprinkler design for pharmaceutical warehouse facility to accommodate high piled storage. The project was designed in accordance with Factory Mutual requirements.
